I do miss tacos and chips with spicy salsa as this was a staple of my meals for many years but in Europe I rarely come across versions that meet my standards of spicy level. During Paris Design Week, on our healthy design week trek, I discovered a version of guacamole with a mediterranean twist that doesn’t include the controversial avocado. Instead it uses broccoli.

Broccoli is a descendant of the wild cabbage plant which is native to the Mediterranean region. Originally from what is now Italy, it has been cultivated since the Roman times - being grown in Europe for centuries and only in the United States since 1925. 2021 reports show that the global production along with cauliflower (which is native to Cyprus) was 26 million tonnes, with China and India together accounting for 72% of the world total. Also note that broccoli is healthiest when eaten raw or lightly steamed.
